- initialize and disable the CAN controller upon request of the Network Management module,

- process the messages received in the CAN controller, perform software acceptance filtering if necessary

- i.e. if global masks are used in the CAN controller to filter incoming frames. Only relevant messages are

to be notified to the upper layers.

- handle the transmission requests from the Interaction_Presentation layer : encode the corresponding

identifiers, load and activate the transmission channels in the CAN controller, pass on the local

confirmation of a message transmission to the Interaction_Presentation layer, pass on the BusOff /

BusOn status to the Network Management and transmit the BusOff recovery request from the Network

Management down to the CAN controller,
