在QuakeCon 2005大会上,John Carmack曾表示,《Quake 3》源代码将在近期发布,任何有兴趣的人都可以下载。 现在,id Software兑现了自己的诺言:《Quake 3 Arena》完整源代码1.32b版(Quake 3 Arena Full Source Code v1.32b)已经公布,包括完整的游戏源代码、各种编译工具和Q3Radiant地图编辑器build 200f,大小为22.4MB(压缩包大小5.46MB)。用VC++2003,打开工程后直接就能编译成功。-Quakecon.org 2005 in the General Assembly, said John Romero, "Quake 3" source code will be released in the near future, any interested person can download.
