iii)　　Discrete Cosine Transform

The transform of a signal is just another form of representing the signal. It does not change the information content present in the signal. Discrete cosine transform is widely used in image and video compression applications such as JPEG and MPEG. These multimedia standards partition an input image into 8 × 8 blocks after that the DCT for each block is computed.
