In recent years, face detection has been thoroughly studied

due to its wide potential applications, including face recognition,

human-computer interaction, video surveillance, etc.

Especially, in the context of face recognition, the detection of

faces along with the detection of some fiducial points, such

as the eyes and mouth, is the first step of the face recognition

system, and this step largely affects the performance of the

overall system.
