Abstract—IEEE802.11 RTS/CTS handshake to avoid a packet
collision with the transmissions hidden terminals. Although
RTS/CTS handshake effectively reduces packet collisions with
hidden terminals, it also increases transmission overhead of
IEEE802.11. In this paper, we discuss transmission overhead
of IEEE802.11 induced by RTS/CTS handshake, and propose
a new adaptive RTS/CTS control method on the basis of
existence of hidden terminals, for mitigating transmission overhead
of Results computer simulations confirm
that our proposed method improve throughput performance in
