The theory of soil heat flux calculation was presented in Yang et al. (2010), with observed temperature as lower boundary condition to solve the thermal diffuse equation. Considering soil moisture and temperature measuring depths are limited in many cases, the program was modified to assume the soil heat flux at the lower bound vanishes.
